For a small country Scotland has huge variety to offer. A tour of Scotland may see you in the lowlands around Dumfries one day and in the highlands around Inverness on the next.

The size of Scotland means that you can travel between towns and cities without too much difficulty. Many who tour Scotland chose to set their own route and their own tour itinerary - hiring a car or using public transport by bus or by rail.

Touring Scotland by bus is certainly an option and many of the local bus companies offer special tickets for those who want to explore an area.
There is a good network of national bus routes between the main towns and cities.

A Scotland tour by rail may be more difficult since the rail routes tend not to serve the more out of the way areas.

You can tour Scotland independently or on an organised package tour. The latter option covers everything from large scale bus and coach tours down to individual chauffeur driven limousine tours where you set your own personal journey plan for each day of your travels.
